Scavland AK-47: Rank-3 Rifle and the Trophy-Repair Trick

Scavland's AK-47 is rank-3 gated at every trader, common as a worn drop, and often cheaper to repair than buy — plus the community-reported stockless Mikhail 47.

FAQ

How do you unlock the AK-47 in Scavland?
Community guides report it is rank-3 gated at every trader — about 1,000 reputation each — though worn copies drop from fights often enough that repair, not reputation, is the usual unlock path.
What is the Mikhail 47 in Scavland?
A stockless variant the Japanese community guide lists alongside the officially named Mikhail 74 U: high damage, accurate, no muzzle or stock mounts, and small enough to fit the pistol slot with a 30-round magazine. Update 0.6.0's notes now name a "Mikhail 47" in their inventory-size list — the first official appearance of the name, without describing the gun further.
Is it better to buy or repair an AK-47?
Repair, per the community guides: worn trophies are common, the AK is a basic weapon to repair relative to its price, and a repaired battlefield copy usually costs less than a new one from a rank-3 trader.

What is the AK-47 in Scavland?

The AK-47 is the rifle the whole reputation system points at: community guides report it is rank-3 gated at every trader — their measured threshold is 1,000 reputation per vendor — making it the first gun you genuinely have to work for. Official sources confirm traders gate stock behind Rank and Reputation tracks (visible right in Grigory’s trade screen); the specific gun-to-threshold mapping is community-tested as of patch 0.5.169.

Buy new, or repair a trophy?

The community’s answer is repair. Worn AKs drop from fights often enough that the guide’s practical advice is: fixing a battlefield trophy is usually cheaper than buying new. That turns every firefight into a potential discount — and pairs with the loot economy the beginner guide describes: take the gun, drag it home, and let the crafting and repair system do the rest. The one caution from the same guides: know which repair tier a gun needs before you commit, because kit materials are not free either.

Magazines and handling

Three magazine options per the community guide — 10, 30, and 75 rounds — and a solid attachment ecosystem. It is rated a “decent primary”: reliable rather than flashy, outclassed in raw accuracy by the M4 (which drops from Gunners fights, per the same community testing) but far easier to feed and fix.

The Mikhail 47 question

The Japanese community guide lists a Mikhail 47 as a distinct stockless weapon: high damage, accurate, no muzzle or stock attachment points, and — with a 30-round magazine — small enough to fit the pistol slot. For launch week, official material had only ever shown the Mikhail 74 U (the media kit’s customization screen), so this wiki treated the Mikhail 47 as community-reported rather than confirmed. Update 0.6.0 changed that: its inventory-size list names a “Mikhail 47” among the long guns that now occupy 3 inventory rows — the name’s first appearance in an official note. Update 0.7.0 then gave the Mikhail 47 a full stat line — accuracy 38→58, range 16→18, durability 10→20 shots per point, damage bonus 1%→20% — its most concrete official definition yet. The notes still do not describe the weapon beyond the numbers, so the community profile above stays labeled community-tested; and 0.6.0’s separate “MK-47 is now a Basic-tier weapon” line may or may not refer to the same gun — no official source connects the two spellings.

Maintenance reality

Like every basic-and-above weapon, wear used to accrue at roughly 1% per 10 shots (community-measured) before Update 0.7.0 doubled the Mikhail 47 to 20 shots per durability point — and before Update 0.8.0 (October 17) raised wear damage from ammunition and combat again. The Day One Patch set the explode threshold at 30% durability. On jamming, the community’s “begins below 50% condition” reading predates that same patch, which made jams start later and happen less often (hard-jam chance at 10% durability cut from 45% to 33%). The stockless community variant reportedly cannot be repaired without an advanced kit — though since 0.7.0, kits work at any damage level. The full numbers, and what gun oil versus kits actually fix, live in the durability guide; the complete sixteen-gun roster with sources is the weapons list.
