FAQ

Where are official Scavland patch notes published?
Major announcements go to the Steam news hub, and detailed development changelogs are posted on the NoShadow Patreon (supporter posts). The official Discord is the community hub the developers point players to.
What happened at Scavland's launch?
The September 4, 2026 announcement "SCAVLAND IS OUT NOW!" confirmed Early Access is live, celebrated more than 230,000 wishlists, announced a launch livestream with Game Designer Klean, and introduced a Feedback button built directly into the game.
Have any Early Access patches shipped yet?
Yes — eight version-numbered updates so far. The Day One Patch 0.5.169 (September 5) added the Explorer game mode, campfire healing, a larger shared Stash, new medical blueprints, and doubled Stamina. Update 0.6.0 (September 9) added sleeping, a completely rebuilt controls and keybinding system, a jobs overhaul, extensive trader and loot rebalancing, and an early Simplified Chinese localization. Hotfixes 0.6.2 and 0.6.3 (September 10) tuned sleep healing and the Leon 1895 family and fixed the Zoran NPC interaction. Update 0.7.0 (September 16) added purchasable Stash expansions, a rebuilt Death Screen, longer-lasting and more accurate weapons, 150 maximum Stamina in every mode, and another sweeping trader and jobs rebalance. Hotfixes 0.7.1 and 0.7.2 (both September 16) fixed the Stash not opening for some players, let Raisa the Diplomat offer a follow-up job without waiting for the current one to finish, rebalanced her jobs, and fixed some world chunks not loading. Update 0.8.0 (October 17) added Dogface with his own quest and Dogface Rides fast travel, staged reloads and inspect animations for every gun, the armor-penetration ammo rework, a container-quality loot system, a major AI overhaul, and Polish, Turkish, and Korean localizations.
What is the latest Scavland version?
0.8.0 as of October 17, 2026 — the announcement of that day (02:54 UTC) is the newest post on the official news hub: Dogface with his own quest plus Dogface Rides fast travel, staged reloads, the armor-penetration ammo rework, a container-quality loot system with random weapon parts, and a major AI overhaul. Before it, the October 5 one-month announcement had launched the official website and the community-requested Roadmap.

Where do official Scavland patch notes live?

Three channels, each with a different role:

Channel What lands there Access
Steam news hub Major announcements, milestones, launch news Public
NoShadow Patreon Development changelogs — v0.5.x titles and dates publicly visible, full notes for supporters Titles public / notes locked
Official Discord Community hub — linked from the official site and announcements Public invite

The demo period set the pattern: the June 2025 v0.2.4.x patches shipped within days of each other (v0.2.4 on June 5, v0.2.4.1 on June 9), each with NEW/CHANGED/FIXED sections and an explicit KNOWN ISSUES list.

What shipped at the September 4 launch?

The Early Access era opened with the official announcement “SCAVLAND IS OUT NOW!” (September 4, 2026, 17:02 UTC):

  • Early Access is live — six years of development, out on Steam.
  • More than 230,000 wishlists at launch, up from 175,000 three days earlier.
  • A launch livestream with Klean, the game’s Game Designer, playing Scavland and talking development.
  • A Feedback button built directly into the game — bug reports, suggestions, balance feedback, and anything that “doesn’t feel right” route straight to the developers, who say it will play a huge part in how Scavland evolves through Early Access.

The launch announcement held the top of the news hub for just over a day — the first version-numbered Early Access patch followed on September 5 and is indexed below.

What’s in Day One Patch 0.5.169?

Update 0.5.169 — the Day One Patch — was announced on September 5, 2026 at 19:18 UTC, the first version-numbered Early Access update. It adds the Explorer game mode, campfire healing, a much bigger shared Stash, new medical blueprints, doubled Stamina, and a broad balance pass across survival, traders, armor, items, and mutants.

Area Headline changes
New game mode Explorer — less punishing combat, faster Money and Reputation from Jobs, keep your equipment when you die (not all backpack items), autosave enabled
Survival Lit campfires now heal you (with good Energy and Hydration); player Stamina doubled; several medicines carry smaller Hunger and Thirst penalties
Stash A second Player Stash at the hospital, significantly increased capacity, and all Stash locations now share one inventory
Medical New blueprints — Advanced Bandage, Army AI-2, IFAK, Stimpack — sold by the trader Alexei; IFAKs stack up to 3
Traders and economy Global Buy/Sell rates rebalanced; stock and Rank requirements updated for Anatoly, Nadja, and Petar; Nadja’s Fetch Jobs require fewer items
Combat and AI Armor loses durability more slowly; guns explode below 30% durability instead of 50%; Mother Rat HP reduced from 350 to 200; neutral NPCs can no longer be stealth-killed; AI no longer shoots from off-screen
World and QoL Petar now lives closer to Grigory; campfires added and improved across the world; rain less frequent; Quick Load added; autosave-interval and camera-shake settings

The same post carries a message to Chinese players: Simplified Chinese was incorrectly listed as supported at release, has been removed from the store page, and the official localization is expected within a few weeks — a community-made unofficial translation already works in-game in the meantime (details in the release date guide).

Full notes: “Day One Patch — Update 0.5.169” on the official Steam news hub, September 5, 2026.

What did Update 0.6.0 change?

Update 0.6.0 — announced September 9, 2026 at 21:40 UTC — is the first major content patch of Early Access. Sleeping, a completely rebuilt controls and keybinding system, a major jobs overhaul, and an extensive trader and loot rebalance, plus a large pass across weapons, equipment, UI, AI, and the world. It also added an early Simplified Chinese localization to the language list.

Area Headline changes
Sleeping Sleep in beds to skip time — the world keeps running while you sleep, the interface previews your stat changes before you wake, damage or Hunger/Thirst wakes you with an explanation, and saving is disabled during sleep
Controls & keybinding The input system was completely rebuilt — rebinding for many more actions across eight categories, key/button combinations with Hold and Tap variants, a new Action Hint Bar, separate gamepad Map/Journal buttons, and 8-directional gamepad movement is back
Jobs & Journal Track multiple jobs at once; cancel jobs from the Journal for 20% of that job’s Reputation reward (minimum 1); Fetch Jobs allow partial turn-ins; quest items are orange and job items green; Volodymyr now offers jobs; Fetch rewards retuned per trader (Bogdan, Vesna, Grigory, and Yefim)
Traders & economy Trader ranks require less Reputation across the board; traders are more specialized in what they buy (Zhivan pays 140% for Common items, Vesna 75%, Nadja 90%; Grigory no longer buys Medical, Food, or Crafting items); Bogdan pays 40% more for Mutant Parts; Petar sells Mechanical Components and a cheaper WG-40; trader ammo stock cut
Weapons Range increased across all guns, generally +1 or +2; MK-47 is now a Basic-tier weapon; Svarsh Miracle fire rate cut from 150 to 100 with its drum reduced to 15; Thread Cutter buffed; many long guns now occupy 3 inventory rows instead of 2 (3-Line, Bahadir 918/920, Borealis, M4, Medved Monster, Mikhail 47, PM1270, Svarsh Long, Thread Cutter)
World & AI Bunkers now reset 3 hours after you leave them; world containers hold less loot and respawn every 1 real-world hour; AI can no longer walk through closed doors or hit you without targeting you; tutorial Bandit encounter cut from 4 enemies to 2
Items & crafting Workbenches can pull materials straight from your Stash; armor durability rebalanced (Tattered 4→3, Scavenger 5→4, Medium 6→5, Heavy 7→6 hits); Regular Bandage bleed reduction raised from 13 to 15; several crafting recipes reworked
Languages An early Simplified Chinese localization was added to the language list — explicitly not the final official translation, which is still in progress and will replace it; more languages are promised over the coming weeks

The same post carried a second message to Chinese players: this is an early version of the localization, put in place so Chinese players would not have to keep waiting — the professional translation remains in progress and will replace and improve it (context in the release date guide).

What did Hotfixes 0.6.2 and 0.6.3 fix?

Hours after 0.6.0 landed, two hotfixes followed in the early hours of September 10 UTC:

  • Hotfix 0.6.2 (01:29 UTC) — sleeping now restores 5 health per in-game hour; the Leon 1895 family (short, standard, and long) does +50% projectile damage; a torch and barrel lighting pass; Tarja’s house fix and missing trees restored; the gamepad cancel-job confirmation and notification-toast placement fixed.
  • Hotfix 0.6.3 (03:02 UTC) — one fix: the Zoran NPC could not be interacted with because of the bed sleep interaction. Restored.

No 0.6.1 announcement appeared on the news hub — the posts after 0.6.0 were numbered 0.6.2 and 0.6.3. Full notes for both hotfixes are on the official Steam news hub, September 10, 2026.

What did Update 0.7.0 change?

Update 0.7.0 — announced September 16, 2026 at 05:24 UTC — is the second major content patch of Early Access. Existing saves are fully compatible, though the developers recommend starting a new game to experience everything. The headline systems: purchasable Stash expansions, a completely rebuilt Death Screen, and major passes across weapon durability, accuracy, Stamina, Traders, Jobs, AI, and the world — explicitly framed as a response to player feedback on weapon durability, repairs, accuracy, and overall combat balance.

Area Headline changes
Stash & camps Stash expansions: buy one from a Trader for 50,000 Rubles to unlock an additional Stash tab; Stashes and crafting tables added to all main camps — Arcadia, Mechanist Base, Mudlark Camp, Microrayion (camp Stashes are single-tab for now; only the village’s are upgradable)
Death & saves Death Screen completely rebuilt with proper mode-specific actions — Returner: Continue / Load Game, Iron Man: New Game / Exit, Tutorial: Try Again — plus full gamepad support; each run now has its own Autosave Slot, protecting the save you are currently playing
Durability & repair Weapons last significantly longer — many rifles and larger weapons roughly twice the shots per durability point; jamming begins later and occurs less often (hard-jam chance at 10% durability cut from 45% to 33%); Repair Kits usable at any damage level and available as world loot again, Rare through Ultra Rare by tier; Glue and Gun Lube usable from 80% durability (was 85), Cleaning Rods and Field Repair Kits from 70% (was 75)
Weapons A large accuracy, range, durability, and damage pass across the arsenal — Thread Cutter accuracy 45→68 with fire rate 600→800, the Leon 1895 family’s damage bonus 4%→50%, Mikhail 74 U accuracy 32→45, M4 durability 6.67→20 shots per point — plus a new 30-round Thread Cutter magazine
Stamina 150 maximum Stamina in every mode (previously 150 in Explorer and 100 in Returner / Iron Man); Dodge costs 15 Stamina in Explorer and 40 in the standard modes; full regeneration in roughly 7 seconds, down from around 10
Traders & jobs Traders pay an additional 5% sell value per Trader Rank; Vesna buys Common items at 30% and Clothing at 60% (Common was 75%); Grigory buys Common items at 50%; Volodymyr’s jobs now focus on high-quality weapons and dangerous Mutants, his Attachments are about 35% cheaper, and he sells Advanced and Expert Repair Kits; Bogdan’s and Grigory’s jobs pay more Reputation; Yefim sells Medium and Heavy Repair Kits; Ilya sells Water
World & AI Campfire healing doubled; only beds with mattresses can be used for sleeping; the Mother Rat spawns fewer additional rats; Burned Village now caps at 1 Big Rat; Boss Spiker is 1.5× larger; Ass Sucker spit projectiles ~30% slower; Spiked Barricades across the world; loot, lighting, and world passes across a dozen locations from Yefim to the Swamp
Economy Antidote value 3,000→200; Rifle ammo prices cut to 120 / 180 / 240 Rubles for Regular / HP / AP (was 200 / 280 / 400) and Large Rifle to 150 / 220 / 300 (was 250 / 350 / 500); incoming damage now distributed across worn gear; ultra-rare high-end drops from high-level human AI halved

What did Hotfixes 0.7.1 and 0.7.2 fix?

Two hotfixes followed Update 0.7.0 within the same day:

  • Hotfix 0.7.1 (06:35 UTC) — one fix: the Stash was not opening for some players. Restored.
  • Hotfix 0.7.2 (23:22 UTC) — a jobs change and a world fix: Raisa (Diplomat) can now offer a follow-up job without waiting for the current one to finish, Raisa’s jobs were rebalanced, and some world chunks that were not loading now load.

The Raisa entry is the first official patch note to name her — her Repair Standings role was community-tested long before this patch and is covered in reputation recovery. No rebalance numbers were published. Full notes: “Hotfix 0.7.1” and “Hotfix 0.7.2” on the official Steam news hub, September 16, 2026.

What did the one-month announcement bring?

The October 5, 2026 announcement — “Scavland: One Month in Early Access! Our Roadmap Is Here!” (01:51 UTC) — shipped no patch. It shipped the Roadmap. One month to the day after launch, the developers thanked the community, put their new official website live at scavland.com, and published the most community-requested thing: an official Roadmap of upcoming major updates.

The Roadmap’s items, grouped by the status the official page assigns them (the Roadmap commits to years, not dates, and the developers state it will keep evolving as development progresses):

Item Status What it is
Community Picks #1 In progress The next update, described as already prepared: Fast Travel plus a new side quest, Cooking, new map and NPC markers, an ammo rework with a penetration system, an item-description rework, and crafting UI improvements
The Descent (Bunkers) In progress Expands the bunkers with three difficulty levels, extraction gameplay, new creatures, and new weapons
Controller & Deck Planned Steam Deck and controller improvements based on community feedback
Community Picks #2 Planned Expanded job variety, new throwables, deeper survival crafting, and dismantling weapons and clothing into materials
Blood Brothers (Co-Op) Planned Cooperative multiplayer — help the host through the main story, split up for NPC jobs, or run procedural bunkers as a group, with a personal bunker Hideout and character customization
Beyond Nature (Anomalies) Planned Hunt mysterious Aspects and recover Cores that grant powerful buffs; new weather hazards and world events
Act 2: The Demons (Lore) Planned The second lore act
Act 3: Alienation (Lore) Planned The third lore act
Hotfixes, Balance, QOL & Main/Side Quests Planned The running track of hotfixes, balance adjustments, quality-of-life work, and quest expansion

Two adjacent notes from the same post: the traditional changelog is not going anywhere — full written patch notes will still accompany every update — and the developers are preparing their first Video DevLog to accompany the Community Picks #1 release. No release date for that update was given.

Full announcement: “Scavland: One Month in Early Access! Our Roadmap Is Here!” on the official Steam news hub, October 5, 2026.

What did Update 0.8.0 change?

Update 0.8.0 — announced October 17, 2026 at 02:54 UTC — is the third major content patch of Early Access, and its headline systems line up item-for-item with the Community Picks #1 slate promised in the October 5 Roadmap: fast travel plus a new side quest, cooking, new map and NPC markers, the ammo rework with its penetration system, a reworked item-description panel, and crafting UI improvements. Existing saves are compatible — and this update carries the fix for corrupted saves; the developers still recommend starting a new game to experience the changes. It also brings everything that was tested on the Experimental branch: the save fix, many soft-lock fixes in main quests, side quests, and Jobs, and the return of faster projectile speeds.

Area Headline changes
Languages Polish, Turkish, and Korean added — Scavland is now localized in all three
Dogface & fast travel New NPC Dogface with his own quest, “On the Road”; Dogface Rides fast travel between Journal-Map stops (Arcadia, the Mire, Sontse Station, Microrayon, North Pier, Quarry Settlement) — the Ride Ticket shows cost, ride time, and a Hunger/Thirst forecast; rides from the Quarry are free while he is still there
Map & UI NPCs appear as pins on the Journal Map; firing-mode HUD (e.g. SEMI · FMJ); reworked Item Info panel with ammo stat tiles; the crafting workbench shows the output item’s stats; cycle nearby interactables with Q; new Hold to Run setting
Reloads & handling Staged reloads for every gun — interrupted reloads resume where they stopped instead of restarting; every weapon gets its own inspect animation; automatic re-rack after an interrupted cycle; rack cycles 30% faster on all bolt and pump guns; projectile speeds restored (pistols 200, rifles 300, large rifles/special 400, shotguns stay at 100)
Armor & ammo Armor penetration: human enemies now wear armor (Gunners 45% ballistic / 40% slash with health 70→50; Acolytes 0%/10% with health 40→50), AP rounds cut through up to 50% armor, and HP rounds are for unarmored targets and mutants; every round has its own accuracy, bleed chance, and bleed amount; new shotgun ammo — Buckshot, Hollow Point Slugs, Sabot Hard-Cast; ammo prices raised across pistol, shotgun, and high-caliber types
Loot New container-quality loot system: everyday containers mostly common guns, military crates uncommon and rare, top-tier containers very rare with a 30% ultra-rare chance; guns found in containers come with random parts and can be missing a part they need to fire; enemy corpses drop limited stacks (at most one ammo stack)
AI Major AI overhaul — reactions to fire it cannot see, gunshot hearing scaled to the gun’s sound range (suppressors help), and faction campaigns that attack and capture each other’s outposts; reputation only drops for witnessed kills; Big Bear is harder; Hellhound attacks deal 12 slashing damage with a 33% bleed chance
World Large North expansion — the North Pier and a reworked Gunner base; a new weather cycle that steps through Sunny → Overcast → Weak Rain → Storm; Free Stamina Zone over the main city; loading in and out of bunkers is a lot faster
Jobs & quests Completing a Job raises that faction’s relationship by +5 (except Gunners and Bandits); Mutant Hunt Jobs pay 18 Reputation per kill (up from 1–5); Raisa’s jobs now focus on Mutant Hunts and retrieving Letters — her Kill Big Bear Job is gone; Fetch Jobs count items stored in your stash near the quest giver; rewards can no longer be claimed with a full backpack
Traders & economy Stock and price changes across the roster — Volodymyr sells Special FMJ ammo at his highest rank, Snezhana, Yelena, and Sasha are newly named (Snezhana sells FMJ ammo in four calibers), Ilya trades Mutant Parts, Yelena and Grigory no longer sell the Mikhail 47, and the buy-low-sell-back exploitation is closed
Saves & performance Corrupted saves fixed (including affected 0.7.1 saves); autosaves get their own screenshots; big performance improvements for Steam Deck and low-end GPUs — cheaper radiation effects, faster fog rendering, a smaller download, and fewer loading hitches

How does this tracker work?

This page is Scavland Wiki’s version index: each Early Access update gets a dated entry as it is confirmed — headline changes in new weapons, faction and reputation adjustments, bunker and Mist fixes — summarized from the official notes with a link to the source. Nothing gets summarized here that wasn’t published by NoShadow first. The 0.6.0 notes also put first-ever official names on five more trading partners (Zhivan, Vesna, Volodymyr, Bogdan, and Yefim), two creatures (the Splatter and the Neurogeist), and a run of weapons (the Mikhail 47, MK-47, Leon 1895, Borealis, and more) — each is woven into the matching guide as it is verified.

For what the launch build contains, see the Early Access guide; for when updates might touch page data, the weapons guide and factions guide note which stats are still awaiting verification. New to the game? The beginner guide is the starting point.
